For over 20 years, Discovery at the Grand has been the ultimate student escape, blending fascinating STEM demos with the breathtaking beauty and rich history of our home state. This overnight trip isn’t just about students hitting the books—it’s about hands-on learning, cultural immersion at one of America’s most historic hotels, and the chance to forge new friendships.

Wondering what’s in store? Let’s dive into the details of this getaway.

Getting There and Back

We’ve got transportation covered with a deluxe motor coach and ferry service to whisk your group to and from the island. No stress, just smooth sailing!

Where You’ll Stay

Prepare for a touch of old-world charm at the iconic Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. Opened in 1887, this national historic landmark is famous for its elegance, hospitality, and timeless appeal. It’s like stepping back in time with all the modern comforts you could want.

Dining Delights

Get ready for a culinary treat! Students, teachers, and chaperones will enjoy a sumptuous five-course dinner at Grand Hotel and a hearty American breakfast the next morning.

Exciting Excursions

When it comes to excursions, you’ve got options! Choose between a classic horse-drawn carriage tour of Mackinac Island (where motorized vehicles are a no-go) or a one-hour bike rental paired with admission to Fort Mackinac, a historic site that housed over 4,500 soldiers from 1780 to 1895.

Hands-On STEM Sessions

The fun doesn’t stop with sightseeing. Your experience at Discovery at the Grand includes access to a variety of STEM sessions. We’re teaming up with some amazing partners like the Challenger Learning Center - Daytona, the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum, and the Leslie Science and Nature Center to bring science, technology, engineering, and math to life.

The Challenger Learning Center – Dayton: In collaboration with Dayton Public Schools, the Challenger Learning Center provides simulated space exploration to help foster a long-term interest in STEM.

Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum: This Ann Arbor playground for curious minds brings inspiration to students of all ages, with a focus on STEM as well as art.

The Leslie Science and Nature Center: An extension of the Hands-On Museum, the Leslie Science and Nature Center fosters friendship, adventure, and a love for all things scientific.

Gear up for a whirlwind of learning, laughter, and adventure. It’s going to be an experience your students will never forget!
