ITINERARY
Day 1: Wednesday, October 1 - Departure
Depart from Cleveland, OH, on an overnight flight to Lisbon, Portugal.
Day 2: Thursday, October 2 - Welcome to Portugal
Arrive in Lisbon, the capital city of Portugal, and meet your English-speaking guide. Enjoy a panoramic tour of the city in the afternoon, visiting St. Jerome’s Monastery, the Belem Tower, the Navigation Monument, and other iconic landmarks. End the day at St. Anthony’s Church, built on the birthplace of St. Anthony of Padua, where we will celebrate Mass. Conclude the evening with a welcome dinner and overnight stay in Lisbon.
Day 3: Friday, October 3 - Lisbon | Sintra
This morning, celebrate Mass at the Church of St. Mary Magdalene. Then, depart for the mystical town of Sintra. Visit the Vila Palace, a summer resort for many kings throughout history. Have lunch on your own before climbing up the mountain to enter Pena Park, one of the most romantic places in Portugal. Return to Lisbon for an evening on your own. Overnight in Lisbon.
Day 4: Saturday, October 4 - Santarem | Antarem
After breakfast and check-out, drive to the Church of the Holy Miracle in Santarem to venerate the 13th century Miracle of the Eucharist and celebrate Mass. In the afternoon, arrive in Fatima, settle into our hotel, and walk to the Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima. Gather for a group dinner and join the optional candlelight procession with an overnight in Fatima.
Day 5: Sunday, October 5 - Our Lady of Fatima
Today, explore one of Our Blessed Mother’s most important apparition sites where she appeared to three shepherd children in 1917. Our first stop is at the Little Chapel of the Apparitions, then a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, which contains the tombs of St. Francisco, St. Jacinta, and Sr. Lucia. Continue with a visit to the Holy Trinity Basilica. See the site where Our Lady appeared to three shepherd children in 1917. In the afternoon, pray the Stations of the Cross, following the path of the children’s first apparition of Our Lady. Visit Valinhos, the site of the angel’s first and third apparitions. End the day by celebrating Mass, followed by an optional candlelight procession. Dinner on your own and overnight in Fatima.
Day 6: Monday, October 6 - Coimbra | Aveiro | Porto
After breakfast and hotel check-out, continue to the city of Coimbra. Celebrate Mass in the Carmelite cloister where Sr. Lucia, one of the three visionaries of Fatima, spent her last days. Drive to Aveiro, called “Venice of Portugal” with time to stroll the streets along the meandering canals and have lunch on your own. Finally, arrive in Porto, the capital of the wine-making region known for its Port wine. Gather for a group dinner and overnight in Porto.
Day 7: Tuesday, October 7 - Porto | Douro River
Porto beckons with its winding streets, medieval alleys, Baroque churches, fountains, bell towers, Beaux-Arts buildings, and bohemian neighborhoods. Begin with a guided tour of the Cathedral of Porto, followed by Mass. Afterward, enjoy a scenic boat ride along the Douro River, taking in the beauty of the city from the water. Later, savor an enchanting wine-tasting lunch at a local winery, sampling some of the region’s finest wines. Enjoy a free evening to explore Porto at your leisure.
Day 8: Wednesday, October 8 - Braga | Bom Jesus | Porto
Today, embark on a day trip to Braga, celebrating Mass at the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Sameiro. Then, explore the Shrine of Good Jesus of the Mountain, a stunning hilltop sanctuary nestled in a lush forest. Upon returning to Porto, visit a local Port wine-making facility in the Douro Valley, the world’s oldest demarcated wine region and the sole supplier of Port wine. Enjoy a farewell dinner and overnight stay in Porto.
Day 9: Thursday, October 9 - Return to USA
This morning, transfer to the airport for return flights to the USA.
